Dolphins Beat Stetson 2-0 to Secure Title

JU Earns Automatic NCAA Tournament Berth

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 13, 2023) - The Jacksonville University men's soccer team won the 2023 ASUN Championship, defeating rival Stetson 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Southern Oak Stadium.

The Dolphins earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the victory.

JU (11-4-4, 5-1-2 ASUN) controlled the match from the start, outshooting Stetson (10-6-3, 4-2-2 ASUN) 12-4 in the first half.

The Dolphins finally broke through in the 35th minute when sophomore forward Pablo Jara scored on a header off a cross from senior midfielder Nicolau Domingues.

JU added to its lead in the 55th minute when senior forward Grayson Dipietro scored on a penalty kick.

The Dolphins' defense was stout throughout the match, allowing Stetson only four shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Luis Favre made four saves to earn the shutout.

The ASUN Championship title is the first for JU since 2018.

What's Next for Jacksonville University Soccer?

The Dolphins will find out their NCAA Tournament seeding on Monday, November 14th.

The tournament will begin on Thursday, November 17th.
